If you need a place to crash while your in Portland, OR I highly recommend the A-Loft Hotel near the Portland International Airport. From the moment you walk through the front door you realize you are not at your typical hotel. This is a high end modern laid back chain of hotels that have multiple locations through out the globe. The chain is part of the Starwood group so if you are used to staying at a Sheraton and like their amenities you will still feel at home but with a more modern touch. The front end staff are all very friendly and helpful with all your needs. The rooms are very nice and feature a "loft-style" atmosphere with great beds, TV's and Showers. Check out their website for more info and all of their locations.

Famous Dave's BBQ
If you like BBQ then you need to hit up Famous Dave's! This is a chain, so you will be able to find it in multiple locations through out the USA. However, the one I am reviewing tonight is located in Portland, OR. If you can't tell from the past couple posts I am spending the weekend here in Portland and have a few favourite places to chow at!
Anyways, back to Dave's.. Tonight I went with the Texas Beef Brisket but honestly there is no wrong choice here. The award winning ribs are also killer, the full rack is so big that I have yet to finish it! They are hand-rubbed with a secret blend of tongue-tingling spices, pit-smoked for 3-4 hours, slathered in sauce, then flame-kissed on the grill. Soooo good! The sides at Famous Dave's are also no slouch, the mac & cheese here is one of the best I've tasted, they even put some corn in it!! You get two sides with all meals along with corn on the cob and their famous corn bread. Now I do need to send a shout out to my wife, no one makes corn bread like her ;) but this is a close second! Check out the web site link for a location near you and the menu.

Bunk Sandwiches
Today I had the privilege of eating at one of my favourite sandwich shops in Portland, OR. "Bunk Sandwiches" in my opinion, has one of the best pulled pork sandwiches you will find here in Portland. Every time I am in this city I make a point of stopping by Bunk, I have never been disappointed!! Many times there is a line up stretching the length of the block, but as everyone in line says, it is well worth the wait. If you are heading here for lunch be sure to arrive early if you want a seat, but they do pack it up to go as well.
Visit their website for directions and a menu list, but try the pulled pork!! They build this sandwich on a poppy seed bun loaded with fresh made pulled pork topped with an amazing apple-slaw along with grainy mustard and pickles! Do not miss out on Bunk Sandwiches if you are in the Portland area, you will not be disappointed.
